Finding Your Tribe: An Incredible Opportunity for Grade 6 Students in Knox
Starting high school can feel overwhelming for any young person, but for neurodivergent students, the social complexities can seem insurmountable. That's why we're absolutely thrilled to announce an incredible opportunity for Grade 6 students in the Knox area - our upcoming "Finding Your Tribe in High School" workshop.
A Partnership That Makes a Difference
We're incredibly proud to share that Strivesocial has partnered with the Youth Connect Foundation to deliver this transformative program, made possible by a generous grant from Knox City Council's Minor Grant Program. This collaboration represents everything we believe in: bringing evidence-based social skills training to young people who need it most, whilst ensuring accessibility for families across our community.
Why Your Grade 6 Student Needs This Now
The transition from primary to secondary school is one of the most significant social challenges young people face. Research shows that students who struggle with social connections during this critical period are at higher risk of anxiety, depression, and academic difficulties. Our workshop addresses this head-on, using the proven UCLA PEERS® curriculum adapted specifically for this pivotal age group.
Life-Changing Skills in One Intensive Day
This one-day intensive program will equip participants with:
Conversation starters that actually work in high school settings
How to join group conversations without feeling awkward
Strategies for handling disagreements and social conflicts
Digital communication skills for today's connected world
Practical tools for building lasting friendships
But here's what makes this program truly special - it's not just theory. Every skill will be practised, refined, and tailored to real high school scenarios that students will face from day one.
Give Your Child the Best Start
As parents, watching your child navigate the social landscape of high school can be nerve-wracking. Will they make friends? Will they fit in? Will they know how to handle bullying or peer pressure? Our workshop will equip students with concrete strategies they can use from their very first day, giving both young people and their families confidence for the journey ahead.
What sets our approach apart is the combination of evidence-based methodology with real-world application. The PEERS® program has been researched extensively at UCLA and proven effective for neurodivergent young people. We adapt every activity to reflect the actual social situations students encounter in Australian high schools today.
Limited Spaces Available
Thanks to the Knox City Council grant, we can offer this workshop at no cost to families. However, spaces are strictly limited to ensure each participant receives the individual attention they deserve.
