Two Minecraft Options Coming Up: Join the Next Group or the July School Holiday Intensive

Flyer for Minecraft PEERS school holiday program

If your child is neurodivergent (ASD/ADHD/anxiety profile) and social connection feels tricky, Minecraft can be a surprisingly powerful bridge. It’s familiar, structured, and gives kids a shared ‘thing’ to do together - which often makes talking, turn-taking, and teamwork feel more natural.

We’ve got two Minecraft-based social skills options coming up, depending on what your family needs: join our next ongoing small group, or jump into our July School Holiday Intensive.

Option 1: Join the next Minecraft small group (weekly)

Our weekly Minecraft groups are designed for kids who do best with steady practice over time. The same group meets regularly, which helps children feel safe, build familiarity, and gradually take more social risks (in a good way).

Weekly Minecraft groups are a great fit if your child:

  • Loves Minecraft and engages more easily when there’s a shared interest

  • Needs time to warm up before they feel comfortable with peers

  • Benefits from repetition, routine, and predictable structure

  • Is working on skills like joining in, conversation, turn-taking, flexibility, and handling disagreements

Why families like the weekly format: it’s consistent, low-pressure, and gives kids time to practise skills in real life (school, sport, clubs) and then come back to troubleshoot and refine.

Option 2: Join the July Minecraft School Holiday Intensive

Holiday time can be a relief from school stress but it can also mean more unstructured social time and fewer natural opportunities to practise.

Our July Minecraft Holiday Intensive is a focused, supportive boost designed to help kids:

  • Get a confidence reset

  • Practise teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship in a short, concentrated block

  • Feel connected with peers during the holidays

  • Build momentum heading into Term 3

It’s a great fit if your child:

  • Needs a quicker start (or you’d like support sooner)

  • Has had a tricky term socially and could use a fresh run-up

  • Finds it easier to engage when there’s a clear, short-term goal

  • Would benefit from structured social time during the holidays

Why families like the intensive format: it’s efficient, motivating, and can be a strong ‘pattern interrupt’ helping kids experience success with peers in a short time frame.

What we actually do in a Minecraft social skills group

Minecraft is the ‘vehicle’ but the goal is real-world social confidence. Sessions are supported and coached, with a focus on:

  • Friendly joining-in skills (how to enter a game and a conversation)

  • Turn-taking and sharing leadership

  • Planning together (roles, rules, and fair play)

  • Handling frustration and unexpected changes

  • Repairing after conflict (what to say/do when things go wrong)

Kids get coached in the moment, with lots of encouragement and practical do-overs.

If Minecraft isn’t their thing - we have other options

Not every child connects through gaming, and that’s okay. We also offer other supports, depending on age and goals:

  • PEERS® social skills coaching (individual or group)

  • Everyday Speech SEL support (video-based learning + guided discussion)

  • 1:1 social skills sessions tailored to your child’s goals (conversation, friendship skills, confidence, flexibility)

If you’re unsure what fits best, we can talk it through and match the program to your child - not the other way around.

Ready to join?

Spots are limited (we keep groups small on purpose). If you’d like to:

  1. Join the next weekly Minecraft group, or

  2. Register interest for the July Minecraft School Holiday Intensive

  3. Find out about our other programs.

Warmly, Julie
